    Brother Luke Hall, Gregory Hills

First show. We had formed not long before this, roughly 2 weeks. At this point in time, our band name was still "75%" and we were an alternative rock band. We were being headed by a love of Nirvana and Foo Fighters at the time, and we were all like 14. You can't blame us. So, the first song we had started to learn was 'All Star' by Smash Mouth; we were probably about 3 days into even learning it when we got asked by a teacher if we wanted to play it in front of school at our annual carnival. "Why not?" Who would've thought. I remember before the show we were backstage and I was flipping out. I had never played the drums in front of anyone. Hell, I hadn't played much at all. I had been asked to join a band by a friend of mine and thought it sounded fun. Now I actually had to be part of the band. Our guitarist at the time told me 'being nervous means you care about it.' So we got out there and we played the shit out of 'All Star.' It was bloody awful in hindsight but it kicked off what would soon become BBUD. Between this and our next show, our bassist Jude Potts quit the band, and we got a redhead singer named Joshua Heylin who took our pretty mundane levels of energy and ran with it. Looking back on this show is always funny. NOFX like to call themselves 'world's most improved band.' They haven't met us.

    Setlist:

    1. All Star (Smash Mouth)

Members: William Degeling (vocals), Jacob Pace (vocals), Lachlan New (guitar), Jude Potts (bass), Harvey Clissold (keyboard), Jason Lee (drums)

    Brother Luke Hall, Gregory Hills

This was our second ever show. From the point where we had first performed the previous year at school, people seemed to have taken a liking to us - and as a result we had a pretty substantial crowd there watching us. So much so, they almost tore the metal barriers concreted in right out of the concrete. Had this show not have gone quite as well as it did, there is a very good chance that we would have just decided this wasn't going to do much of anything and would have broken up right then and there. Alas, we're still together. For now. This was the first show where we dropped the weird alt-rock era, ditched the keyboard and became basically a shit-house pop punk Chats rip-off.

    Setlist:

    1. All Star (Smash Mouth)

    2. Welcome To Paradise (Green Day)

    3. 6L GTR (The Chats)

    4. American Idiot (Green Day)

    5. Wild In The Streets (Garland Jeffreys)

    6. Dammit (blink-182)

    7. Territorial Pissings (Nirvana)

    Brother Luke Hall, Gregory Hills

At some point, someone realised that we must have been the only band in the entire school. So they started asking us to do performances for those giant assemblies and stuff. You know, you get funneled into a hall and they run through the fomalities. And then, we come out. Here's an interesting difference between this show and just about any other show of ours that you would be familiar with. There was not a lick of punk music played at this show. Not even a little bit. We were asked by the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander co-ordinator at our school to perform 'Solid Rock' by Goanna. It was for the NAIDOC Week assembly at school. By some facet of a miracle we ended up performing 'Solid Rock' for about 3 years or so. At our first few shows our mates would call for it and it became the 'fan favourite.' We had a good time putting this one together - it was probably the first time we proved we could do more than just classic alternative rock or punk-ish. I actually miss playing this one a bit.

    Setlist:

    1. Solid Rock (Goanna)

Members: William Degeling (vocals), Jacob Pace (vocals), Lachlan New (guitar), Harvey Clissold (bass), Jason Lee (drums)

    La Valla Centre, Gregory Hills

I wish I could remember more about this show. It was part of something at school called 'Winter Serenade' which was effectively a student music showcase. If I remember correctly we were told we could only play 2 songs but we ended up doing 3 and thought we were such little rebels. This show had a lot of equipment issues - amps were turning off, mics were cutting in and out and I believe there was an argument because someone thought someone else was turning off their equipment on purpose. This show was fun for sure but I would be lying if I said it was very memorable. I'm sure we were great.. maybe ok. This is notably the first time we ever played Bro Hymn, which is still a staple of our set all these years later. Impressive.

    Setlist:

    1. Breed (Nirvana)

    2. Welcome To Paradise (Green Day)

    3. Bro Hymn (Pennywise)

Members: Joshua Heylin (vocals), William Degeling (vocals), Jacob Pace (vocals), Lachlan New (guitar), Harvey Clissold (bass), Jason Lee (drums)

It's almost impressive how long this little ditty has managed to survive. Somewhere in what I believe was September, a silly experimental jam group that we formed called Cellophane played a riff and Josh sang the words 'I Went To The Shop To Buy Myself Some Milk' over it. Not long after, he came to us with a fully written song - our first original. It changed many times over the years up until it was recorded for our debut EP, but this was the first time we ever played it. In front of our entire school. How we had the confidence to do what we were doing at that point in time.. I have no idea. Maybe we didn't give a shit? Poor Josh ended up being called 'The Milkman' for about 3 years after this. Far as I know, there are 5 recorded versions of this song. Pretty much all of you will only know the most recent one. That is a good thing. This was also the show where the school put up the words 'Punk Metal' behind us, which ended up being our self-proclaimed genre for a bit.

    1. I Went To The Shop To Buy Myself Some Milk

Members: Joshua Heylin (vocals), Lachlan New (guitar), Jacob Pace (guitar), Harvey Clissold (bass), Jason Lee (drums)

To a lot of people, I suppose this would have technically been our first show. The first one outside of our school at least. It was such a big deal at the time to be actually driving somewhere completely different to play a show. For this show I think we learnt something like 10 new songs on top of what we already knew. Again, wish I could remember better but we must have been pretty intense on the practicing. We had a practice at our bassist Harvey's house once. I think that was for this show. So we sold this thing out. Literally you couldn't get another ticket for the event because so many people were coming to see us. Mostly friends and family but it was a damn good feeling. I do remember we were going to play 'I Went To The Shop To Buy Myself Some Milk' but they had said we should tone it down a bit; so I insisted that we don't do it. We probably should have just done it eh? Anyway, a few of the songs we learnt for this show are still in our rotation all these years later (Maxwell Murder, Hope, Col etc.) I am also forever thankful to our friend Molly who pestered people to get us onto this show. Without this show and actually getting out of school, we were destined to be another high school band that never does anything. This show is online, not that I much recommend watching it.

This one is pretty useless if I'm being completely honest. We got asked to play another assembly, so we did. Riveting stuff, right? This one is probably most (and only) notable for being the last show our original guitarist Lachlan would ever play with us. Lachlan wasn't able to do the next few shows - and in early May we parted ways. A bit of a mix of things. "Creative differences?" That's legitimately one of the best ways to describe it. We didn't go about it the best way - we were all young. It did make us feel less like a ska band though. 6 members doesn't gel quite as well as 5. Going back to this show though.. yeah, pretty unremarkable. We did a Chats cover.

    1. 6L GTR (The Chats)

Members: Joshua Heylin (vocals), Lachlan New (guitar), jacob Pace (guitar), Harvey Clissold (bass), Jason Lee (drums)

Here's another one for the little rebels! We were only meant to do 3 songs.. but we did 4! Ooh someone call the police! Another one that is relatively unremarkable in the grand scheme of the band - we did however play with a band called Under The Knife for the first time who we would go on to play many shows with until their break-up in 2026. We also played with a band called The Avenue who we've been friends with ever since. They're going to be really big one day. I had been sick before we played this show and had little interest in getting up there and playing the drums so I might have phoned it in a bit. Not that I can remember. Funny enough, the sound guy tracked this whole show and it ended up being reviewed by Triple J. This show is also online. It's not our worst. Lachlan didn't play this one.

    Setlist:

    1. Welcome To Paradise (Green Day)

    2. Maxwell Murder (Rancid)

    3. I Went To The Shop To Buy Myself Some Milk

    4. Bro Hymn (Pennywise)

Members: Joshua Heylin (vocals, tambourine), William Degeling (vocals), Jacob Pace (guitar), Harvey Clissold (bass), Jason Lee (drums)

Thanks for checking us out. We love ya! <3
